Hi! I'm Quil and made this GoFundMe on behalf of my friend Kami.

Kami has been struggling with an incredibly aggressive form of genetic gum disease for years. If untreated, it will continue to eat away at their bone tissue and cause even more excruciating pain and irreversible damage than what they're already struggling with. They do not have dental insurance and must pay for the entire procedure out of pocket.

Kami is a queer, disabled person with a chronic heart condition and is currently the primary caregiver for their elderly grandmother. On top of being on a fixed income, their household has recently suffered from back-to-back emergencies that have drained their finances; a replacement lawn mower, a cracked tooth that needs immediate repair, recurring vet visits for a chronically ill senior cat, and a half-functioning dryer, just to name a few.

Additionally, due to living in a rural area, many of the doctors’ visits for Kami and their grandmother are a several hour drive one-way, and with the rising gas costs, has gotten incredibly expensive to receive medical care. For example, after over a decade of debilitating pain, Kami is finally getting treatment for endometriosis; unfortunately, this is also an additional financial strain that is preventing them from receiving dental care.

Multiple setbacks have pushed this procedure further and further back due to finances, which will only permanently hinder their quality of life if not treated immediately. All proceeds from the GoFundMe will go directly to their medical bills, pain mitigation, transportation to receive care, and other dental-related costs.
