Help Kamela Heal and Fight for Justice!

Hello, my name is Christal, and I am Kamela’s mother. I am writing today, terrified, with both a broken heart and a determined spirit, to ask for your support in helping my daughter recover from a devastating attack and the injustices that have since followed.

Kamela is a kind, shy 14-year-old who loves school, drawing, and taking care of her pet bearded dragon. She has always been a good student and has never been in trouble. But her world turned upside down when Jehue Middle School failed to protect her from a violent bully.

Kamela endured repeated bullying from this male student and was left vulnerable by her school’s inaction. One day, these failings came to a horrifying climax. She was attacked by a male student who was nearly twice her size. The teacher was present and able-bodied, yet failed to follow the education code or school policy and did not intervene at all. Fearing for her life, Kamela tried desperately to fight and defend herself as bystanders, and her attacker hurled hateful, racist slurs at her. The attack ended when Kamela was knocked unconscious with a concussion.

Additionally, I have read articles claiming she is a bully and have felt so helpless watching the assassination of her character. She feels great remorse and wishes none of this happened. But she also knows she deserves to be treated fairly, be protected, and have her voice heard.

The aftermath has been heartbreaking. Kamela now suffers from a concussion, severe migraines, convulsions, and deep emotional scars. She spends most of her days sleeping as her body and mind try to recover. Once a bright and happy child who loved learning, Kamela now finds herself battling sadness and a sense of humiliation. She misses her school, her friends, and the joy of being able to dream freely about her future.

To make matters worse, instead of receiving protection and support, Kamela has been unjustly cited for felony assault with a deadly weapon. She is being punished for trying to defend herself while being attacked in an environment filled with racial hostility. This reflects not only a failure on the school’s part to keep her safe but also a troubling systemic bias that targets the most vulnerable.

We are launching this fundraiser to help Kamela and our family get through this dark chapter and fight for the justice and healing she deserves. We are seeking to raise $25,000 to cover her medical expenses, legal defense, and other costs associated with her recovery and pursuit of justice.

Your contribution will directly help Kamela access the medical care she urgently needs to recover from her injuries. It will also fund the legal resources necessary to fight these unjust charges so she can live free from fear and continue her education, something she loves deeply. Every dollar brings us closer to securing a future where Kamela can heal, thrive, and achieve her dreams.

Kamela deserves a chance at a bright future without the barriers of trauma, injustice, and systemic failures holding her back. She is a good kid, a compassionate soul, and someone with so much potential.

Please consider donating what you can to help Kamela and our family. Any amount, big or small, makes a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, we humbly ask that you share this story with your networks to help us reach more people who may be able to support.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with Kamela during this time. Your support means the world to us and is a reminder that communities coming together have the power to change lives.

God bless,
Christal, Kamela, and family
