Hi everyone,
My name is Kamari, and I’m currently trying to continue my college education after a difficult first year financially and academically.
When I first started college, I struggled more than I expected adjusting to the transition. Between personal stress, finances, and learning how to manage college life, my grades suffered during my first semester. For a while, I genuinely felt discouraged and unsure of what my future in school would look like.
Instead of giving up, I worked hard to turn things around.
This semester, I raised my grades significantly and earned about a 3.1 semester GPA, bringing my cumulative GPA back up and putting me back in a position to transfer and continue pursuing my degree. Through this process, I’ve grown a lot both personally and academically, and I’m proud of the progress I’ve made.
I’ve truly appreciated my experience at Shaw University and the opportunities and lessons it gave me during an important period of my life. However, after trying to make it work financially, I’ve had to accept that attending Shaw long-term simply was not within my family’s budget.
Because of my remaining balance ($4k), my official transcript is currently being held, which prevents me from fully completing the transfer process and continuing my education at another university in North Carolina.
I created this fundraiser to help pay down my remaining balance so I can access my transcript, transfer schools, and continue pursuing my degree in communications, media, and creative fields.
Any support, whether through donating, sharing, or encouraging words, would genuinely mean so much to me. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and support my educational journey.
