About Me

My name is Kamal Ud Din, hailing from Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. I am in my final semester at the University of Central Asia (UCA), Tajikistan, majoring in Earth and Environmental Sciences, and will graduate in June 2025.

The Opportunity

I am honored to have been admitted to the Erasmus Mundus Copernicus Master in Digital Earth (CDE) program, a prestigious, multidisciplinary master's program offered collaboratively by Paris Lodron University Salzburg (Austria), Palacký University Olomouc (Czech Republic), and the University of South Brittany (France).

Why This Matters

Gilgit-Baltistan is among the most climate-vulnerable regions in Pakistan, facing challenges such as glacial retreat, water scarcity, and natural hazards. The CDE program's focus on geospatial technologies and digital Earth applications aligns perfectly with my aspiration to contribute to climate adaptation and sustainable development in my community.

Financial Need

While I have received a full tuition waiver for the two-year program, I am responsible for covering my living and personal expenses, estimated at €1,000 per month. To support my first year, I am seeking to raise €11,500.

Use of Funds

The funds will be allocated towards:

• Accommodation: Securing housing in host countries

• Daily Living: Food, transportation, and other essentials

• Administrative Costs: Visa fees, health insurance, and related expenses

Fund Management and Accountability

To ensure transparency, my mentor and senior, Khizer Zakir, will assist in managing the funds. Khizer is an alumnus of the CDE program and is currently pursuing a PhD in Austria. All contributions will be transferred to his account, and he will oversee the disbursement of funds on my behalf.
