Hello, my name is Kaliyah and I am a trans woman living in Texas. If you have been tapped into current events and/or politics, you can understand how that can be concerning. I have built a life for myself since moving to Texas 5 years ago. I started my transition, established a career with an amazing company, and had plans to start school for Ultrasound next year. I had faith in people to not vote in local and federal elections supporting people emboldening bigotry, misogyny, and the like. Obviously, that faith was misplaced.

With this being said, I am having to leave Texas in reluctance for fear of persecution. I will have to spend a few months in Oklahoma, but my ultimate destination is Maryland. They have declared themselves a sanctuary state for trans folks fleeing from states that are no longer welcoming them, like myself. I not only have moving costs for a cross-country move, but I also have a previous broken lease that must be paid before any apartment will accept my application, totaling about $3k. I understand that times are trying right now for everyone. I appreciate any help I can get, even if it's just sharing my link! Thank you so much.
