Hello! My name is Melanie. I’m a first responder and proud dog parent. My sweet dog, Kali, was recently taken to an open field to play and injured herself. She gets very excited to get outside and play catch, but this time she overdid it. After a couple of days of thinking it was just a pulled muscle and keeping her on bed rest, she was taken to the vet, where we received the news of the torn cruciate ligament. The vet told me that my options were between crating her to avoid any further damage and keeping her on constant medication for the next six months, but to consider that it was more than likely she’d tear the other side later on. The other option is surgery, giving her a better chance at losing the current limp she has and healing properly. This is something I’ve never done before, but I simply can’t afford her surgery all by myself. Kali is my best friend. We’ve grown up together, and I look forward to coming home to her every single day, so here I am doing anything that I can to make sure she gets the treatment she needs. Anything would help. Thank you all so much <3.
