-UPDATE- as of 2/7 Kali has passed and all funds raised will be going towards the payment for her cremation and mementos of her life (I.e. pictures, ink/clay paws, and urn(s).)
My name is Jamie. I'm 24. When I was 12, I lost my family pet. He was a dachshund, and I had him from the time I was 6 till he died in 2012. Six months later, my mother got me Kali. She was a kitten at the time, but I chose her from the litter. She's my best friend, a pet I don't think I'll ever be ready to let go of. She's my everything.
Anyways... about a year and a half ago, I moved from Washington to Kansas. It was a difficult move for everyone, but it was necessary. At the time, Kali was doing okay. She was about 11 lbs and comfortable. As of about 3 weeks ago, she's taken a turn for the worse. She dropped to 7.61 lbs and hadn't eaten for two days, vomiting, lethargic, and dehydrated. I was so scared of losing my friend that I rushed her to the vet. The veterinarian stated she has an infection somewhere (we're unable to pinpoint where). They gave her a course of antibiotics and a food stimulant to get her eating again. It helped, but she's still struggling. They suggested a second round of both, and even after that, she's still losing weight. They are wanting to do a cleaning of her teeth because they think that may be something contributing to her discomfort. They would take a closer look at her mouth while cleaning to see if she may have fractured a tooth of some sort. Either way, that plus the original round of medical treatment is already going to cost upwards of 800 dollars.
I'm terrified of losing her. I'm not ready to say goodbye yet. Any funding would help. Any over the fundraiser amount will go towards continued care as well as end-of-life care if it comes down to it. Please help my best friend so that she's not hurting and can live out the rest of her days into old age.
This is an estimate: the initial 700 will go towards cleaning, 500 or so will go towards and extractions needed and the other 3k will go towards x-rays, prevenative care, and end of life care such as euthanasia if it becomes necessary.
