Life has not been easy for my family and I the past couple of years. Since this past July alone, my then 16 year old daughter had to have major surgery, two weeks after that, I had an injury on my foot and had surgery on my Achilles Tendon, suffered major complications from that surgery (including developing a chronic pain condition) and have been unable to walk since August, and my family all contracted COVID a few weeks ago and we're still getting over it.
Earlier this week, Kali (our 11 year old German Shepherd), became lethargic and stopped eating. She kept whining and has had a few accidents in the house, which is not like her. Yesterday, my husband took her to the vet and they did bloodwork, which came back as fine. But a large tumor was discovered on her chest. The vet also gave her antibiotics for an infection. We cannot even schedule the surgery until she finishes the course of antibiotics, so that gives us about a week and half to get the money together so we can schedule it. Unfortunately, they won't know if it's cancer until the tumor has been removed, but her prognosis is good as long as the cancer has not spread (if it is malignant).
I hate to ever ask anyone for money, but with all of the medical issues I've had with my foot, paying off my daughter's surgery, and the $500 vet visit from yesterday, the cost of Kali's surgery would cause us a huge financial strain. And with a good postoperative prognosis, we have to at least try. Anything you can give would be a huge help and we would be incredibly grateful. And if you can't donate, please share. Thank you for taking the time to read this and please keep us and our sweet girl in your thoughts.
