I am Ang Riedel. I am raising money for a very special girl in Brandon. Right now, she and her family need help. Like most people, they don't like to ask for help. But lately, life has been throwing more at them than anyone can handle. And I want to give them the help they need.
Her parents, Brooke and Joel, have three other kids at home besides Kaley. They are a single-income family. They have bills to pay. Joel has been missing work so he can be there for Kaley and help with the care that she needs. I want them to not have to focus on how to pay for groceries or the next bill. I want them to be able to focus on what is most important... their daughter.
Kaley is a 16-year-old Brandon Valley High School student. She was born with a condition that caused a variety of birth defects and delays. Her first surgery was at 2 months old, and she has had countless surgeries since then. When she was 9, she was diagnosed with a rare cancer, completely unrelated to the other issues she was facing. She fought through and beat the cancer.
Two years ago, she had spinal surgery. Unfortunately, this surgery created more complications than it fixed. Because of the surgery, she now has nerve damage that causes her to live in excruciating pain every single day. It also caused other abdominal issues.
Because of the complications from her spine surgery, her parents made the very hard decision to have her get a colostomy bag at age 16. She had the colostomy bag placed last Tuesday, October 8. Since then, Kaley has been absolutely miserable. She is in an unbelievable amount of pain. And unfortunately, the surgery has not worked as of today. (10/18/2024)
While the doctors are trying to figure out what is going on, Kaley is spending a lot of time in the hospital. And that means her parents are spending a lot of time there too. And the bills keep piling up while Joel is not able to work.
If you were to ever meet Kaley, the first thing you would notice about her is her smile. She has the biggest, brightest smile ever. It doesn't matter that she is living in constant pain. She is always smiling. And she is always more worried about everyone else instead of herself.
Let's help this family not have to worry about bills right now. Let's help them focus on Kaley and the rest of their family. Let's help them focus on finding the right care that is going to help Kaley start to get better. Because that is the ultimate goal: to help Kaley live as normal a life as possible, just like any other 16-year-old girl would want.
