Kalen is my cousin, and he’s 28 years old, living in a small community where access to advanced prosthetics has always been limited. Growing up, Kalen faced many challenges trying to find a bionic arm that would truly give him the independence and functionality he longed for. After years of searching and extensive research, he discovered the Hero Arm from Open Bionics, a device that could finally offer him the freedom and confidence he’s been missing.

At the start of the new year, the out-of-pocket cost for the Hero Arm increased significantly, making it even harder for Kalen to access the technology that could change his life. This doesn’t include the travel expenses to the nearest prosthetist in Chicago.
