My name is Kaleb, and I am a 20-year-old nursing student. I pride myself on always helping others, working part-time as a nursing assistant with veterans, and pursuing a career in nursing. I have worked hard since I was 16, saving money and buying my first car on my own. I am always there to help family and friends whenever possible, and I have the biggest heart ever.
On Friday, August 15th, my life changed. While hiking with friends, I fell from the top of Paradise Falls in WNC. I sustained a closed head injury, a broken right femur, and a shattered left fibula and ankle. Thanks to heroic efforts and God above, I survived. However, on Saturday, I had a 5-hour surgery to put my legs back together. I have a rod in my right femur, which will allow me to bear some weight. However, my left leg and ankle are still very fragile, and I will be zero weight-bearing for weeks. My family has been with me every step of the way, and while we have insurance, it will not cover everything. I will not be able to work for months and have enough savings to make a few car payments, but it won't last. I will also need extensive physical therapy several times a week and will be dependent on family and friends to get to class for my 1st semester of nursing school. Every dollar donated will go towards helping me pay my car payments, make tuition payments, buy medical equipment, and help pay co-pays for physical therapy.
We are not a family that likes to ask for help, but this is one time where we know we cannot do it alone. Please consider, and if you cannot give, please share. I promise to pay it forward as soon as I can. Thank you.
Kaleb and Family.
