Kaitlynn Strong

On August 1, Kaitlynn Reid was involved in a horrible ATV accident. She has been taken to UVA and is currently in the ICU there. She has multiple facial fractures, rib fractures, 2 fractures in one of her femurs and had surgery August 3 to place a rod in for support. She has not regained full consciousness due to being on pain meds and currently has a breathing tube, feeding tube and chest tubes in place. They will be checking to see how her lungs do on their own and if they can remove any of the chest tubes but so far she still needs them. She also will be checked by an ENT to see how one of her facial nerves in her left jaw is. She has sustained more injury to her brain than initially thought via an MRI because she was moving too much in the CT scan.  She has sprained and torn ligaments in her spine which will require her to wear a the neck brace for 6 weeks.

Shes been a fighter already and is showing them she can follow purposeful commands just not exactly when asked. She definitely let Jeff know she didn't like it when he tried tickling her toes the other night. Kaitlynn has a very long road ahead of her and need a prayers and we are asking for any financial support you can give. Currently her mom and family are driving back and forth between UVA and Harrisonburg/Broadway area. If you can offer any support please do. Heather will post via Facebook how she is and when she is alert and can have visitors but for now she needs rest for her brain and body to start healing well.
