For more than 25 years, Kaity Schultz (Taylor) has been far more than a nanny to our family; she has been family. She helped raise my brothers and me with endless love, patience, and care, becoming like a daughter to my mom and a lifelong friend to all of us. Anyone who knows Kaity knows her heart: compassionate, selfless, strong, and always the first person to show up for someone in need. She has spent her life caring for others, and now she needs all of us to rally around her.

Kaity has a rare gift for making people feel loved, welcomed, and important. Her kindness and warmth have touched countless lives, whether through her friendships, her work, or the simple way she always made time for others. She never met a stranger; people quickly became friends, and friends became family. Her laughter, generosity, and caring spirit have left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She always took tremendous pride in her career at Highstreet Insurance and Financial Services. To Kaity, her job was never just about policies or accounts; it was about people. Her clients were never “just clients”; they became an extension of her family. She built relationships rooted in trust, compassion, and genuine care, always going above and beyond to help others through difficult times. So many people relied not only on her professionalism and dedication but also on her calming presence and unwavering support.

Outside of work and family, Kaity has a deep love for travel and adventure. She treasures making memories with the people she loves most, whether discovering new places, planning family trips, or simply enjoying life’s special moments together. She embraces life fully and finds joy in creating experiences and connections that last forever.

In an unimaginable turn of events, Kaity’s world has been shattered in just a matter of weeks.

Only three weeks ago, Kaity lost her mother after a difficult battle with lung cancer. She and her family have been navigating the heartbreak and grief of that tremendous loss. While still mourning her mom and trying to hold her family together, tragedy struck again in a devastating and life-altering way.

On Monday, Kaity was driving when a large tree suddenly crashed down onto her vehicle, trapping her inside. Emergency crews worked for nearly two hours to free her from the wreckage. She suffered catastrophic spinal injuries and had to be airlifted to the hospital for emergency treatment. Kaity underwent an extensive 6-hour spinal surgery, and her condition remains critical.

At this time, Kaity has lost all feeling and movement from the waist down.

The road ahead is uncertain and will be incredibly difficult. She faces months, and likely years, of intensive rehabilitation, specialized medical care, therapy, and recovery. While doctors continue to evaluate the extent of her injuries, one thing is certain: Kaity’s life and the lives of her family members have changed forever.

Kaity is the center of her family’s world. She is a devoted mother to her young son, JT, and a loving wife to her husband, Chris. As they try to process this trauma emotionally, they are also facing overwhelming financial pressure. With Kaity unable to work and mounting expenses from surgeries, hospitalization, rehabilitation, travel, home modifications, and everyday living costs, the burden is more than any family should have to bear alone.
