Help Kaitlynn's Medical Journey in Greece

Hi, my name is Kaitlynn Lagunas, and I’m a sophomore at the University of the Incarnate Word, majoring in Biology and proudly on the Pre-Physician Assistant track.

Ever since I was young, I’ve been deeply drawn to the world of medicine. I’ve always had a strong desire to care for others, to offer a hand when someone is hurting, and to stand for fairness and compassion in healthcare. When it comes to their health, I think everyone should be treated with dignity and respect, no matter where they are from. This idea is what makes me want to become a Physician Assistant.

This summer, I have been given an incredible opportunity to study abroad in Athens, Greece. For three weeks, I will be shadowing doctors for 20 hours a week — observing in hospitals, assisting with patient care, and even stepping into the operating room to witness surgeries firsthand. This opportunity is not only to gain hands-on medical experience but to also learn how healthcare systems work in a different part of the world.

It’s more than just a trip...it’s a pivotal step in my journey to becoming a better, more compassionate healthcare provider.

As someone who also loves to travel and immerse myself in other cultures, this program means the world to me. It brings together my passion for medicine and my curiosity about the world, allowing me to grow both personally and professionally.

However, as a full-time student working two jobs to support my education, the cost of this experience is more than I can cover on my own. That’s why I’m asking for your help.
