Our 30-year-old daughter Kaitlyn recently faced a life-changing medical emergency. She suddenly lost the use of her right arm and leg, and after being admitted to the hospital, doctors discovered that multiple discs were being compressed and pressing against her spinal cord.
Immediate surgery was necessary to prevent permanent paralysis. While the surgery was successful in relieving the pressure, a nerve was damaged during the operation, resulting in paralysis of her right vocal cord.
Since then, she has struggled to speak and often chokes when trying to drink liquids.
Just two weeks after her initial surgery, she suffered a fall that caused the cage placed in her neck, which was used to replace the bone that was removed, to shift and also fractured her vertebrae. This led to two more emergency surgeries. Now, she is in the midst of a long recovery, unable to work for anywhere from 8 weeks to 6 months. She is unable to drive or do most daily activities on her own and faces numerous doctor appointments, physical therapy sessions, and needs continual assistance—all while trying to care for her 6-year-old daughter.
The funds raised will go directly toward medical bills, medication, therapy, daily living expenses, transportation to and from appointments, a home health aide, and supporting her as she cares for her child. Any support would mean the world to our family as we navigate this difficult time. Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser to help our daughter on her road to recovery.
