My name is Kaitlyn Fay and I am a jazz musician based in the Albany, NY area. I can frequently be found singing with a variety of local groups, including the Art D'Echo Trio, MB Jazz Vibes, the Brucker-Weisse-Canterbury Jazz Orchestra, and my own ensemble, the Kaitlyn Fay Quartet. Highlights from the last decade of performances include being featured in the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival, Schenectady's Jazz On Jay series, and the first annual Schenectady Porchfest.

When I self-produced my first album of jazz standards, Curiosity, in 2013, I was just beginning to develop my sound as a jazz vocalist. In the eleven years since then, I became a mother, established my career as a public school music educator, and experienced the joy of performing with many of the New York Capital Region's finest jazz musicians. Reflecting upon the last several years, I recognize that I have truly evolved as a singer, and I am ready to record a long-overdue second album.
While my musical inspirations are numerous and diverse, I have recently been fascinated with the intimacy and unique beauty of duo recordings (such as Cecil McLorin Salvant's 2018 album, The Window). As a result, this album will consist entirely of duo arrangements (voice, accompanied by piano/guitar/etc.), featuring some of my favorite jazz musicians with whom I have worked over the last several years. My goal is to record ~12 songs, selected from my repertoire of jazz standards and the Great American Songbook. The timeline for this project is fluid and funding-dependent, though I hope to finish recording all of the tracks by September 2025.
Funds raised for this project will go primarily toward recording studio time, mixing, and mastering the album. In addition, your contributions will help to make possible: digital distribution of the album, production of CDs, mechanical licensing, and album photography. If this crowdfunding campaign is successful beyond my stated goal, I may expand this recording project to include a couple of my own original songs (which would otherwise be slated for a separate, future project).
