Asking for Help may be the hardest part.....
Kaitlyn Joy Lowery age 25 was Diagnosed with Cancer in July 2024. The world Stopped that day.
It's always the phone calls you never expect or want to receive. Kaitlyn called very panicked after her trip into the ER.
Ok, so maybe we should back up just a little. Mother's Day, Kaitlyn shows me the Lump she was feeling in her neck that she and I both thought was weird. Not really alarming just weird. We were thinking maybe a weird cyst or pimple.
By the end of June that small knot had grown in size. You could now actually see the "Lump" growing out of the side of her neck. Feeling a little more alarmed we decided a trip to see a doctor was needed.
First step, a primary care doctor look up may be the place to start. Truth be told, responsibly we should have had one of those already, but we hadn't. The calling begins: All the offices were saying they could get her an appointment at end of October or the beginning of November. Shock and disbelief, to have to wait that long sounded crazy. I told my baby, Umm I think it will have to be and emergency room visit instead. We were feeling like they would let us know if we could wait or not to see a primary Doctor.
July 21st sitting at work staring at my computer screen the phone rings and Kaitlyn says Mom they did and Xray or CT scan I can't remember now, and they say I have a huge knot or spot on my Lung and they believe it's Cancer.
My stomach fell to the floor and I got up and ran away from my desk, don't need the guys seeing the water escaping from my eyes.
I said hold on now they can't tell stuff like that with out running more tests. I told my now very Panicked daughter to calm down and that I was on my way.
So now I'm driving to the second hospital to demand more definitive answers. Couldn't be Cancer No way!!!
Now sitting in the parking lot with my head is spinning!
So many things are happening in our Life right now. My terminally ill Mother fighting with Stage 4 Liver issues that she is so tired from fighting and Now this. None the less time to put my brave face on and go and see what these people are saying. Of course, I made it to the second hospital Kaitlyn was being transferred to before they did.
They have finally arrived.
You know when you can hear the clock tick in the background when you're bored or scared, this time it's the scared for me.
They send in a Siteman Center Cancer Doctor, I can see the badge on her Coat. My heart is pounding and I'm trying to understand exactly what they are a saying. The doctor says we are scheduling a biopsy appointment and running a few more tests as Kaitlyn has Enlarged Lymphnodes in both sides of her neck, that they can see and feel along with in her chest that they can definitely see.
A rush of new emotions, feeling a little better about where we are and the team of doctors that they have already put in place to help us. Mixed with Relief and comfort knowing my Sister is a Siteman Center Cancer Nurse and will be able to assit Kaitlyn and I with any and all of the questions we don't understand.
They did the biopsy of the Lymphnodes in her neck and she was diagnosed with Classic Hodgkin's Lymphoma in July 2024
A port placement, 8 rounds of chemo, and the start of radiation treatment that should end sometime in January.
December 4th:
after the Passing of my Mother in the beginning of November Kaitlyn has Kicked Cancer's Behind!!!!
Kaite has been very brave and strong with the support of her family and friends and all of her hardwork she has Won!!
Thank you Father for your favor on her life!
We are in Remission!
Now the healing and restoration can begin. We all know God doesn't give you more then you can bear... to say the very least the road is not always smooth. Now we have to ask for help from the village! The bills have been racking up and any help we can receive from our community would also be a blessing. So far we are at 6 grand in hospital bills. Anything helps and the support will go towards paying those bills. If there is any left over money it will be donated to helping in the battle of Cancer!
Many Thanks in Advance even if it is in prayers for her continued restoration.
