Hi, my name is Kristina, and I’m reaching out as a mother asking for help for my 16-year-old daughter, Kaitlyn. Over the past year, Kaitlyn has been quietly battling an eating disorder, a serious and complex mental health condition that affects both the mind and the body. Like many adolescents, she tried to manage this on her own for far too long — and as her parent, watching her struggle has been heartbreaking. After extensive evaluations and recommendations from professionals, Kaitlyn has been accepted into Discovery Treatment Center in Orange County, California, a highly respected adolescent treatment facility that specializes in eating disorder recovery.

Eating disorders are not about food alone — they impact heart health, brain development, emotional regulation, long-term physical growth, and mental health and self-esteem. Without proper treatment, eating disorders can become life-threatening, especially for adolescents whose bodies and brains are still developing.
