On the early morning of Sunday, October 19, 2025, a targeted shooting occurred inside the Sleep Inn Marion in Marion, Iowa.
https://www.kcrg.com (https://www.kcrg.com/2025/10/19/shooting-marion-leaves-woman-with-serious-injuries/)
Kaitlin was brutally and senselessly shot 11 times by the father of her two children. The trauma is unimaginable — physical pain, emotional shock, and the reality of a long road ahead.
She was life flighted to the University of Iowa hospital immediately and is in recovery, but the battle is far from over.
• Kaitlin has sustained severe injuries and faces extensive medical treatments, surgeries, rehabilitation and ongoing care.
• She is unable to work at the moment, meaning loss of income and mounting expenses.
• The cost of hospital bills, follow-up consultations, travel for specialist care and rehabilitation will be overwhelming.
• Emotionally, our family is deeply shaken — the healing will take time, and she’ll need our support every step of the way.
• Along with everything she’s facing, she is also the devoted mother of two children who depend on her every day and need support during this difficult time.
This fundraiser is being started to help cover:
1. Hospital bills and medical procedures not fully covered by insurance.
2. Rehabilitation (physical therapy, occupational therapy, mobility aids, etc.).
3. Lost wages so she can focus entirely on healing without the stress of how to pay bills.
4. Ongoing mental-health support for her and her children; trauma recovery matters as much as the physical injuries.
5. Additional costs like travel for specialist visits, home-modifications or assistive equipment she may need during recovery.
6. Ensuring her children have stable care, counseling support, and everyday essentials.
Why your help means so much:
Every dollar raised will directly ease her burden and give her the space to focus on healing — physically and mentally. Right now, the future is uncertain, but our hope is strong. With your help, we can lift some of the financial weight so she can focus on what matters most: getting better, being with family, and building her life again.
Please know — every donation, every share, every message of support makes a real difference. Even if you’re not able to give, simply sharing this campaign with your friends and network helps amplify her story and her path to recovery.
About Kaitlin:
She is a woman whose strength shows in everything she does—balancing a demanding job as a production supervisor at a plastic injection molding facility, with the beautiful chaos of raising two children on her own, all while offering steady support to everyone around her. Her warmth is genuine and contagious, lifting spirits wherever she goes. As a mother, daughter, sister and aunt, she gives freely of her time, her heart, and her laughter. Generous, caring, and effortlessly funny, she brings joy into every room she enters.
She’s always been there for others, so now it's our turn to be there for her.
We are deeply grateful for your care, compassion and support at this time. This tragedy is also a reminder of the devastating impact of domestic violence. Supporting Kaitlin means helping a survivor rebuild her life with dignity and security.
