Kaion was hit by car - vet bill and dental surgery

My name is Gale, I have 4 children and our 3yr old pup Kaion (one of our family pets) - anyone who knows us, at birth Kaion was not breathing and needed CPR to bring him back to life- so he’s our SPECIAL BOY! He was hit yesterday evening( 10/13)! He dug a hole under our fence and got out of our yard. He has phnemothorax, had to stay overnight, drain the air. He will need dental surgery once recovered. He was hit, dragged under the vehicle a few feet, severe road rash, teeth were shaved from accident . He’s has a long road to recovery. And it’s going to be pricey we are at $2100 just for his overnight stay and initial treatment .

His vet appointment is Friday 10/22/21@ 1130am. We will be discussing steps for his teeth-(update: his surgery will run between $1100-$1500) As most know vets will not perform procedure without payment- payment is due when we pick him up after his surgery day of.. We have raised enough to at least put a down payment down.

But as today is 10/20/21- we are noticing that his left leg may have more damage than we knew- and his pad is almost off on his right foot- making it very difficult for him to walk on either back legs. Who knows what’s gonna be said Friday please Anything will help! Even if it’s  $1

UPDATE:

As of 10/26- I had to raise his goal back to $3000- Kaion is going to need to go to see vet AT LEAST once if not two or three times a week during this paw healing process- I thought I could do it, and I can…but I need to be sure Kaion is getting the correct care! 

If a few weeks down the road I feel the healing is good enough and I can care for it myself then I will but right now INFECTION is our main worry!

UPDATE: 227pm 10/14/21 

We should be able to pick Kaion up after 4 pm tonight- we can’t wait to get him home and comfortable- and more information on the next steps we need to take

We are currently waiting outside the hospital for a call with discharge instructions and will be bringing our baby boy home to rest! 

UPDATE: 828pm: he is home and resting 

Thanks everyone! Long road to recovery 

He had pneumothorax, pulmonary contusion, road rash and worn dentition( his teeth) front bottoms are almost non existent 

He will need dental work!!! 

UPDATE: 645am 10/15/21-

Kaion is home resting will be calling vet today to set up a follow up appointment for next week and discuss treatment for his teeth! 

He is in a lot of pain but doing okay! Thank you everyone

He has a follow up appointment 10/22 and to discuss next steps for dental work at Cornerstone veterinary in Clifton park!
