Help Kainan fight Leukemia

March 23rd, 2022, Kainan Troy and his mother Nicole (Ryan) Thompson were given the news that no parent or child should receive; Kainan’s cancer has returned, it’s Leukemia!!! Go home, pack a bag to last a few weeks and go to the hospital - they are waiting for you. Kainan needs to start treatment immediately.

Over the next multiple months, Kainan’s life will be in a hospital room - between Bangor, ME and Boston, MA - where he will have a rigorous road of chemotherapy and in need of a bone marrow match.

Nicole will be by Kainan’s side throughout wherever this takes them. She can not work, as she will be traveling between hospital stays and doctors visits.

Sadly, this is not the first time they have faced such horrible news. In 2008, at the young age of 7, Kainan was diagnosed with Histiocytosis - a rare form of cancer in children that attacks bones and organs. Chemotherapy, radiation, too many surgeries, and so much more was Kainan’s journey towards fighting this. It was only a few years ago he was told he was cancer free.

Kainan graduated high school and just started a job, which he loves at the YMCA. But now everything is on pause. The fight for his life has begun again. But this time it’s different - it’s in his blood.
