Help Kailyn Heal and Thrive Again

Dear family, friends and kind strangers,
We've all heard the saying " It takes a village...". Right now truer words cannot be spoken. My best friend, Mackenzie, and her family could use that village right about now.
This is Mackenzie's daughter, Kailyn who just turned 4 years old last month. She was all set to start pre-k last week with all her friends, but life had other plans for Kailyn and instead she is spending what would have been her first days of school in the hospital.
For 3 days last week, Kailyn cried over a headache so bad that no amount of pain reliever would help. Mackenzie took her to the emergency room for help but a few hours later she was discharged with an antibiotic and was told by the doctor that it was most likely viral. Later that afternoon, Kailyn was brought to her neurologist who sent them back to the hospital. This time though, Kailyn had a head scan and that is when the whole world came crashing down for this family. Little Kailyn was rushed to the ICU where she was diagnosed with having had a very large stroke affecting her right cerebellum, she had to have a procedure done where a neurosurgeon drilled through her skull and brain to place a drain to help relieve the pressure she was experiencing. She then ended up with subsequent blood clots in her left leg. SHE IS 4!!
Kailyn is a fighter and she's receiving excellent care , but the road to recovery may be long. The doctors are hoping to be able to move Kailyn to an inpatient rehab facility next week where she will learn again how to walk, use her right arm and work on speech that was affected.
This is a heart-wrenching and difficult time for the family as they navigate her medical care and uncertainty of her recovery. Many have reached out to Mackenzie asking how to help. With the long road ahead of them and Mackenzie not being able to return to work in the near future, I thought starting this fundraiser would give her peace of mind and the ability to be by Kailyn's side every step of this healing journey.
I am humbly reaching out to our "village" for support during this time. Any contributions, no matter how small, will go directly to Mackenzie for medical bills, rehabilitation bills and household expenses until she's able to return to work.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love, prayers and generosity. Your kindness means the world as Mackenzie and her family focus on helping Kailyn heal.
