Hi, my name is Kailie. I was diagnosed with a severe and lifelong mental health condition called Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Since I was 16, I’ve relied on my service dog, Luna, to help me navigate daily life and feel like a normal person again. She’s been my stability, my grounding point, and my best friend through some of the hardest moments of my life.
When Luna was 4 years old, she was diagnosed with epilepsy. With medication, her seizures are somewhat controlled, and she still joins me for occasional public outings. However, to keep her safe and healthy, I’ve had to begin the process of semi-retiring her from full-time work.
Because Luna can’t safely handle all of her service tasks anymore, I need to start preparing for a new service dog to take over in the next couple of years. Getting a properly bred and trained service dog is very expensive — between breeder fees, veterinary care, training, and equipment, the total can reach tens of thousands of dollars.
My goal is to raise enough money to begin this process responsibly and ensure I can continue to live safely and independently while letting Luna enjoy a more relaxed, happy life in her retirement.
Luna has changed my life in ways I could never put into words, and I can’t imagine navigating the world without the support of a service dog by my side. Any donation, no matter the size, helps me take one step closer to continuing the independence and stability Luna has given me.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for any support or shares. It truly means the world to me.
With love,
Kailie & Luna
