Hello my name is Kaiden Ford and I am a black trans artist living in London. I am in desperate need of your help as my visa expires on March 6th, and I am trying to raise £10000 to cover the costs that would help me stay.
My current visa expires on March 6th 2026, and I’m going into the final stage to secure my residency after that.
I come from an immigrant family and because of everything that’s happening in America it’s not safe for me to return there, and I don’t have the funds to keep fighting as a freelance artist.
I left the US in 2018 to escape a cycle of abuse I was subjected to because of my trans identity. Wearing dresses put me at risk of punishment and violence and parental support was never an option.
School was also not a safe heaven for me. I was extremely bullied, food was thrown at my head on a regular basis. Teachers provided no protection or support to the transphobia I faced, and my suffering was ignored. At the age of 16 I left home as my depression was at its most severe, which pushed me to multiple suicide attempts.
Against those adversities, I still believed in presenting myself in my truest form, it has always been something i cling on to. I spent so much of my life fighting to be seen and heard, and I escaped where i grew up in the US to live safely and authentically.
Community and the freedom to live as who I am are what I hold on to so tightly in my life and I am now in a position where I risk being separated from this community, this community that taught me fundamental things in life that many grew up around, such as safe physical touch and supportive communication, and the thought of not having that around me at the age of 28 is destroying me.
I am not someone who asks for help, but i’m in a position now where the stakes are high and in order to seek a different outcome I must try a different route.
Being POC, dyslexic and trans means i don’t have the same opportunities, or advantages, as others and i am also vulnerable to abuse and unfair treatment by people, including from those meant to protect us.
thank you so much, love kaiden
