At the beach, my son Kaiden can finally exhale—watching the waves, the noise of the world fades away. As a parent, all you want is to see your child feel safe, happy, and at peace in their own body. Kaiden is an incredible, bright, and deeply unique child—but like many children with autism and sensory challenges, the world can often feel overwhelming for him. Everyday situations that others might take for granted can be exhausting, overstimulating, and difficult to navigate. As his parent, I do everything I can to support him, advocate for him, and help him find moments of calm and confidence—but I know he deserves even more.
Kaiden often asks to go to the beach, where he can spend hours simply watching the ocean waves roll in. There, the noise of the world seems to fade, replaced by the steady, calming sound of the water. The beach is truly his happy place. In contrast, daily life can feel overwhelming, and he often relies on headphones and time alone at home, where he feels safest in a controlled, familiar environment. That’s why I’m hoping to give him the opportunity to attend the Kids N Bloom Retreat, a 5-day immersive wellness experience in Hawaii designed specifically for children like him. This retreat is more than just a getaway—it’s a carefully created space where children with neurodiverse needs can truly exhale. It’s built around a thoughtful approach called the BLOOM Method, which focuses on supporting the whole child and family.
This kind of whole-child approach is especially meaningful for kids like Kaiden, because it recognizes that true progress comes from supporting not just one area, but everything working together—including the family. In a peaceful and nurturing environment, children are able to feel understood, accepted, and supported without pressure or judgment. For my son, this could mean learning tools to better manage anxiety and overwhelm, building confidence in a safe, supportive setting, experiencing joy and connection with other children who understand him, and strengthening our bond as a family through shared healing experiences. As a parent, it would also give me the chance to reconnect with him in a deeper way—away from daily stress, schedules, and challenges—and just be present together.
Unfortunately, experiences like this are not covered by insurance and come with significant costs, including travel, lodging, and program fees. While I am committed to doing everything I can, I am reaching out for support to help make this life-changing opportunity possible for him. If you’re able to donate, share, or simply support us in any way, it truly means more than I can express. You’re not just helping fund a trip—you’re helping give my son a chance to feel peace, confidence, and belonging in a way that could have a lasting impact on his life. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for being part of our journey. With gratitude, Amber
