Kaia is my 10-year-old dog and my best friend. I’ve had her since I was 15, and she’s been by my side through some of the most difficult times in my life. She means everything to me, and I can’t imagine life without her.

Recently, Kaia became very sick with a lung infection. The process of figuring out what’s wrong has already been expensive, with lab work, chest x-rays, and multiple vet visits, and we’re still waiting on some results. The initial treatment with antibiotics hasn’t worked, and now the vet suspects her infection may be fungal rather than bacterial. Today, Kaia was prescribed a new antifungal medication that she’ll need to take for the next three months. This medication is aggressive and can cause liver damage, especially in older dogs like Kaia. We’re expecting to need more lab work to monitor her organ function, and I’m worried about how I’ll be able to afford everything she needs.
