Help Kai the Kitten's Medical Journey
Beschermde donatie
Meet Kai, my miracle kitten
Two weeks before my graduate‑nursing finals, my 10‑month‑old kitten Kai crashed without warning—sudden lethargy, pale gums, fluid around his lungs and belly. We rushed to VCA Oʻahu Veterinary Specialty Center, where Kai spent 8 days in ICU, received multiple blood transfusions, and fought for his life.
As a full‑time Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) student working 12‑hour night shifts, I emptied my savings and maxed a credit line to pay the $13,503 bill on discharge. Kai is now bright‑eyed and playful again (swipe for the cutest recovery pic!), but his journey isn’t over.
How you can help
• $10 → one day of medication
• $25 → IV line supplies for future bloodwork
• $50 → half of a lab panel
• $100 → covers an entire re‑check visit
• Any share → reaches someone who can give
Every dollar goes to Kai’s ongoing medical bills (receipts & vet updates posted in the Updates tab for transparency). If donations surpass immediate needs, extra funds will stay in a dedicated “Kai Care” account for future vet emergencies.
Why this matters to us
I’m studying to become a nurse practitioner so I can serve rural Hawaiian communities. Kai has been my study buddy through night shifts, exams, and pandemic burnout. Your kindness lets me focus on finishing school while keeping Kai healthy and home where he belongs.
From the bottom of our hearts—mahalo nui loa for reading, donating, or simply sharing Kai’s story. Together we’re giving this little black cat the long, happy life he almost lost.
