Meet Kai Larsen (son of Jason and Kara Larsen)--he is a fun, adventurous, always on-the-move 14-year-old who loves snowboarding, skateboarding, soccer, and mountain biking. Unfortunately, he was recently diagnosed with cancer. I am this aunt and am working with extended family to raise money for his treatment and the family’s related expenses. All donations will go straight to Kara and Jason.
Kai has APML (acute promyelocytic leukemia), a rare subtype of acute myeloid leukemia. We have been told that this subtype responds well to treatment and has an 85-90% cure rate. He was diagnosed on August 18th, started treatment the next day, and is responding well to the medication and infusions he is receiving. We are very hopeful that Kia will have a positive outcome, but the treatment is extensive and may require them to stay in the hospital for up to a month–after which he will need continued treatments for months. Kai and his family live 40 miles from the hospital and are facing many related expenses in addition to medical bills. Any help you can give or have already given them is greatly appreciated! Let’s go, Kai!
