My sweet fur baby Kai was attacked by a coyote in my front yard after accidentally getting out on the night of 12/20, resulting in a broken jaw (in 2 places), a ruptured eardrum (causing nystagmus and imbalance), multiple puncture wounds, 2 broken canines, potential brain/neural damage, broken nails, and minor eye damage. Since the attack, his emergency vet bills have already totaled $5k, with a quoted $7-9k surgery with an oral surgeon to repair his broken jaw, and an additional $5-10k+ estimated for follow-up exams, procedures, medications, etc.

After surgery tomorrow, Kai will be on a feeding tube for 3 weeks during the healing process. My once active, healthy, chatty, and treat-obsessed boy is now unable to eat or drink water, stand up or walk on his own, and has urinated on himself at least 4 times in 24 hours and is running out of bedding and pee pads to soil. My heart breaks to see only glimpses of his once vibrant personality through the heavy pain med haze.
