Help Kai and Jay Stay Afloat Through Loss and Hardship

Hi friends, community, and kind strangers,

This spring has brought a cascade of hardship for our little family. I (Jay) am experiencing a heartbreaking incomplete miscarriage that wasn't found until late and is now having horrible complications.

While I'm recovering and we're grieving that loss, my partner Kai’s father entered the final stages of terminal cancer.

On top of all of this, we are both out of work—Kai’s school job is on unpaid summer break but they have a lower-paying job set up, and I’ve been unable to work while navigating grief and health challenges but have been desperately looking for work anyway.

Our only car recently needed repairs and we had to use all of our savings to repair it, leaving us with nothing to fall back on. Our monthly rent is $1,500, and we are now facing the next few months without the means to keep up with basic expenses.

We are asking for help to cover the essentials—rent, groceries, and bills—while we grieve, support Kai’s family through hospice care, and try to regain stability.

We estimate that $6,000 would allow us to survive the next few months safely and with dignity.
