Help Kahlua Heal: Support Her Fight for Comfort & Life
Donation protected
The Facts
- ❤️Kahlua, my 13 year companion, needs emergency life-saving surgery
- After extensive testing (xrays, ultrasounds, blood work, endoscopy and biopsies) we finally got to the root of all her issues
- She has severe pyloric hypertrophy: The pylorus is the part of the stomach that connects to the small intestine. It's like a little muscular valve or door that controls how food leaves the stomach and enters the intestines. Hers is almost completely blocked.
- What does this mean for her health? She no longer eats, she constantly vomits large amounts of fluid as it all gets stuck in her stomach, she is extremely dehydrated and lethargic, and the impact of this is starting to effect her other organs.
- Our little family has been desperately seeking answers and losing hope for months now. We are prepared to do anything to save her and with this recent diagnosis, we now have a path towards healing and recovery.
- Please help us save our beloved Kahlua, and bring back my son Théo's best friend
Current Situation
- After deeply disappointing support from our home veterinarian, 48 hours of no eating (we tried at least 10 brands of the best available food, including many home cooked meals), multiple spouts of vomiting per day, and the overwhelming look of frailty on her bone-thin body - we knew it was time to hospitalize her
- $3,703 later, Kahlua was admitted, given a feeding tube, provided heavy medication to stabilize her and confirmed her diagnosis and eligibility for a pyroplasty surgery.
- Now we are looking at a quote of anywhere from $5,700 to $7,300 to cover the costs
My Humble Ask
- I now turn to you, my trusted and loving community, my family, and perhaps even an unknown stranger with a big heart open to creating a meaningful difference.
- I'm just like you. I care deeply about animals and the people in my community, and I love creating random acts of kindness.
- It's so easy and life-giving to be on the side of the giver, and this path has proven to be a very humbling experience to now place myself on the side of the one asking for support. I pray you never have to experience this side, yet I know life has a beautiful way of teaching us what we most need to learn through the pain and difficult moments.
- Our family has experienced grief, many sleepless nights caretaking for her, we've prepared ourselves for her passing thinking we were at the end, we've prayed, we've sought counsel from various hospitals and vets, I've even worked with a pet communicator to receive any insights from Kahlua and how we can better support her.
- If you can find it in your heart to donate to help us afford this surgery and her hospitalization, I will be forever grateful. I promise to do my best to share all of our updates and photos and videos
- If you are reading this and a donation is not possible for any reason, I understand. I kindly ask if you are willing to share this with a friend who can donate, or even send loving prayers our way, I am grateful
