Hello! I am fundraising for my upcoming study abroad experience to Ireland this summer.

I am currently a Junior standing at the University of Northern Iowa, majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders. This prior semester I jumped right into my in major classes, and have loved it so far. I received all A’s in each of my courses, which outlined different communication disorders and outlined the importance a Speech Language Pathologist plays when a child has a communication and or a speech disorder. In the future, I have high hopes of becoming a Pediatric Speech Pathologist and will graduate in the Spring of 2027 with my Bachelor's Degree. Afterwards, I plan to apply to graduate school to help further my understanding of the practice.

Although I have loved my time at UNI, this summer I was offered an opportunity to take a course in Ireland to further my understanding of cultural differences, language development, and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I have always wanted to study abroad, but I felt a whole semester trip would be too long for me. When the opportunity to study in Ireland for two weeks of my summer came up, I had to jump on it.

While overseas, I will be taking a course called UNIV 3003: Community & Wellbeing Through the Lifespan in Ireland. This course will provide me with insight into how the people of Ireland live, and using this knowledge of cultural diversity will help me in my future workplace, as I will be working with children from many backgrounds.

Not only will this course provide me with a surplus of knowledge, but the whole endeavor will be a unique opportunity as well as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This program comes with a financial obligation. The cost to participate in this program is around $5,800. In addition to the course, this includes airfare, meals, housing, and other personal expenses that may arise there. Although I will be applying for study abroad scholarships and working hard to save up for this experience on my own, I am asking you to kindly consider my request to help fund this experience and ease my burden as I continue to focus on my studies.
