This past month has turned my world upside down. What I once took for granted, my independence, my ability to move freely, to plan my wedding and my life without hesitation has suddenly changed. I’ve gone from walking through my days with ease to facing seizures, dizziness, and weakness that make even standing or walking unsafe.
My doctors believe I may have dysautonomia, possibly POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). But as many people in this community know, getting an official diagnosis and treatment plan can take months or even years. In the meantime, every day is a balancing act between grieving the life I had and learning how to build a new one to the very best of my ability while preparing to get married to the love of my life; who has never wavered in his support as we have both struggled to navigate this.
I’m learning that I need to let go of the version of me who could power through without thinking and instead honor the version of me that needs rest, tools, and support. It hasn’t been easy to accept that. But I’m determined to keep moving forward and to find joy and stability again, even if the path looks different now.
How Funds Will Be Used:
• A custom wheelchair that fits my needs while I wait on the long insurance approval process
• Adaptive equipment (stools with wheels, cushions, ramps) so I can stay safe at home
• Ongoing medical bills—co-pays, travel, and testing expenses, especially at University of Washington and potentially a specialist in Seattle
• Daily management tools that help me cope with unpredictable symptoms
• Rehabilitation equipment so I can start exercising safely and rebuild strength
My goal is to raise $8,000 to cover these costs. Every dollar will go directly toward giving me more safety, independence, and dignity as I navigate this unexpected journey.
I never thought I’d be here, asking for help. But life has changed, and I’m learning to adapt in ways I never imagined. Your donation, no matter the size, means more than words can capture. You’re not just giving me equipment you’re giving me back pieces of the life I thought I’d lost. Thank you to everyone for your support whether is be emotional, physical, or financial!
With so much gratitude,
Kaelee
