Help Kaedi In Her Time of Need

If you're here then you probably know who my sister, Kaedi, is. You know the great person she is.

She is many things: a great daughter, an amazing older sister, a kick*** lash and hair stylist, a loving friend and girlfriend, and most of all, a beloved dog mom. She's the strongest and hardest working person I know as well as one of the kindest. She gives so much to others without second thought or hesitation. I know many of you know this as well. I've never known her to ever stop working or ask for help.

And that's why we're here today...Kaedi needs your help.

For many, many years, Kaedi would constantly get sick. Sometimes causing her to get lightheaded. After years of testing her blood, her doctors had no idea why her blood levels were constantly getting so low. In 2020, one doctor wanted to give her a bone marrow biopsy to find out what is happening. COVID delayed this procedure until June of last year.

In July, she discovered the hard diagnosis. She had been diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS); a preleukemia, a bone marrow failure disorder. Essentially, her bone marrow was unable to produce enough healthy blood cells. This was caused by a rare genetic mutation known as GATA2. Both of which are incredibly rare for someone of her age group. The only treatment for this cancer is aggressive chemotherapy with a stem cell transplant.

Then to make matters scarier for her, in January of this year, she came down with a terrifying case of COVID. And in July, her blood levels started dropping faster requiring the need for urgent treatment. And trying to get a stem cell donor that was a match wasn't easy, but luckily her doctors were able to find a perfect match for her.

On October 15, it was finally time for treatment. She has been in Northwestern Prentice hospital in quarantine and will be for several weeks while doctors oversee how her body accepts the implant. This means she is unable to work or do anything for several months. She has no form of income and the hospital bills plus the costs of homecare are going to be immense. She needs all the help she can get.

Kaedi believed that she would be getting desperately needed disability insurance to support her in this immensely difficult time. That's not the case anymore. As of the week of November 17, Assurity (her disability insurance provider) refuses to pay her, claiming ONE question on a form was "incorrect." Thanks to the heartless jerks at Assurity, she is now getting no other financial support than the generous help you're providing here.

She's too humble to ask for anyone's help, but her friends and family want to help the person we love. If you could donate any amount to help support her through this time, you know she is eternally grateful, and so are we.
