Help Kabe get his degree!!

Dear friends,

We are so thrilled for our friend Kabe, who was recently accepted into a prestigious Masters programme at Södertörn University in Sweden to study Sociology (Leadership for Sustainable Development). Unfortunately, tuition fees and living expenses in Sweden are high, and Kabe needs our help to complete his payments. In order to get his visa, the Swedish government requires that he be able to pay his first semester tuition and living expenses for two years just to begin his studies. That includes the first semester’s tuition fees: $4,500 = 45,000 SEK and $21,000 = 207,600 SEK for living expenses. Kabe has been able to save some money through his tireless work at a community organization in Cairo assisting refugees and migrants over the past 4.5 years, but he needs our support with the rest  (18,500 USD)

Kabe is a Sudanese young man from the Nuba Mountains region, a region that has witnessed an ongoing war and marginalization in many fronts over the past 66 years.

Kabe came from a low class family, but he always had profound ambitions, and was constantly seeking to reach and achieve his goals regardless of the lack of resources and the difficulties he had faced. Kabe earned a Bachelor’s degree (honors) in Sociology and Anthropology as well as a postgraduate diploma in International Human Rights Law in his home country.

I first met Kabe in Egypt in 2018 when we worked together at a community-based organization that works to support refugee and migrant communities in Cairo. Kabe was one of the first people I became friends with because he was so easy to talk to and a complete joy to be around. I have always been in awe of how Kabe advocates for himself, his family, and his clients. I know that working towards this Master’s degree is a dream come true for Kabe, and he deserves to see that dream realized!

Kabe has dedicated his life to serving the most vulnerable people in the communities he lives in and to contributing to the development and social change in these communities in the Middle East and North Africa. He believes and works hard for human rights promotion, social justice, and gender equality, in particular LGBTIQ+ people’s rights. It is his dream to get a Master’s at a premiere institution. This is an amazing opportunity for him to develop his role as an active actor regarding social change and development in these communities. His time in Sweden will also be an opportunity to learn more about and from diverse communities. As his belief in beneficiary centered-approach, with his degree, Kabe plans to found an initiative to promote human rights and social change through putting the targeted groups in the center of planning and taking their ideas and hopes into account and playing a vital role in achieving the changes they want to see.

Your support will make a huge difference in Kabe’s life and community. Any and all amounts make a difference. Thank you so much for your support!
