Help K9 Zeke Recover and Return to Duty
Tax deductible
Update 5/30
K9 Zeke continues his recovery after his successful heart surgery. He has a lengthy recovery ahead still but will return to duty in the next month or two. Capital K9s is responsible for funding the medical bills for all of the Madison police K9's. The donations we have received during this fundraiser, along with support from the University of Wisconsin Veterinary Care Hospital, have thankfully covered most of the cost of his procedure. We appreciate each and every donation!
Our GoFundMe fundraiser will close at 5pm today. Thank you so much for your donations, comments, prayers, and support. Capital K9 could not do all of these wonderful things for our K9's (and their handlers) without community support. ❤️
We’re raising funds to cover life-saving heart surgery for K9 Zeke, a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois and a proud member of the Madison Police Department K9 Unit.
Zeke was recently diagnosed with a serious heart murmur. Further testing at the UW Veterinary Hospital revealed an enlarged heart that was causing dangerous blood leakage between chambers—leaving him fatigued and at risk. Thankfully, the skilled veterinary team was able to perform a minimally invasive procedure to correct the issue. Zeke’s heart is now functioning normally, and the murmur is gone.
While his prognosis is excellent, Zeke now faces several weeks of mandatory rest—a tall order for such a dedicated and energetic working dog!
This surgery was essential, but costly. That’s where you come in.
Capital K9s, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer-run organization, funds the entire Madison Police K9 Unit (excluding officer salaries). Your donation goes directly to Zeke’s medical expenses and ensures he can continue serving our community with strength and heart.
Support Zeke’s recovery. Donate today and help him get back on his paws.
