Hi there, my name is Douglas Sayeg and I am employed with the West Allis Police Department. For the last 6 years, I was assigned to the K-9 unit with my K9 partner KC. KC had an outstanding career with over 388 deployments, 188 arrests, 23 street apprehensions, along with numerous drugs and firearms recovered. KC loved to work and dedicated himself to protecting not only the City of West Allis but the surrounding communities. On top of work, his most favorite activity was being in the community and loving on everyone that he met. He was not only my partner but belonged to the hearts of so many in the community.
This all changed on September 26, 2025, when KC began limping. His back left leg was noticeably irritating him. An X-ray, biopsy, along with a CT scan confirmed cancer. KC’s career was now over and a long road to recovery has begun. This recovery included a total amputation of his left rear leg on October 27, 2025, at WVRC in Waukesha. This procedure was done as a way to save KC and stop the spread of the cancer. Now he’s home, retired, and recovering.
We are asking for your help financially to cover the initial costs of all his medical procedures, his future medical bills, and medication. Anything which is not being used will go directly back to the WAPD K-9 unit. Thank you so much to all those who have reached out and expressed interest in helping our cause. KC says “Thank you.”
