Facing unexpected job loss after seven years with the Department of Commerce due to recent federal cutbacks, I'm reaching out for support during this transitional period. My son, a recent military veteran, and I have been navigating this challenging time together. While I've always been the one lending a hand to others, now I find myself in need of a hand up to bridge the gap until my next employment opportunity.
For the past three months, I've been on public assistance, receiving only $444 a week, which barely covers a fraction of my financial obligations including rent, utilities, groceries, and essential healthcare. Without health insurance, a recent urgent care visit has added to the financial strain, as unexpected medical expenses continue to mount. Despite landing a job offer pending contract approval (was to be awarded at the end of July, and as of August, has yet been pushed again), delays have depleted my savings, leaving me facing the prospect of financial instability.
On Monday, October 13, 2025, I will have exhausted my 6 months of assistance from the Dept of Unemployment. You must wait one (1) full year before re-aplying for additional assistance.
As of Monday, September 8, I am still not working.
Your support would mean the world to me as I work towards financial stability and regain my footing. I would greatly appreciate any help you can give, whether through donations or sharing this page. Thank you for considering helping me during this challenging time.
