Hello,

My name is Jyosi Blair. In September, I took a leap of faith and traveled to Bangkok, Thailand to pursue my dream of teaching overseas. With a 60-day tourist visa, optimism, and determination, I spent weeks interviewing, emailing, and attending Zoom meetings—doing everything I could to secure a teaching position.

Despite my best efforts, I faced constant rejection. As my visa neared its expiration, I used the remainder of my funds to make a visa run, hoping for more time to continue my job search. I purchased a round-trip bus ticket and set off with hope—only for everything to go wrong.

After six exhausting hours at immigration, I was unexpectedly sent back to Bangkok without completing my trip. This resulted in an immigration overstay, and I am now being charged a daily fine that I have no remaining resources to cover.

I immediately reached out to the Canadian Embassy for help. After many emails and conversations, they were able to secure me a flight home to Toronto on December 9, 2025. However, before I can leave the country, I must pay the overstay fine in full—and I simply do not have the means to do so.

This is why I’m humbly asking for assistance. I am gathering funds from every possible source, but I am still short. Any contribution, no matter the amount, would mean the world and help me get safely home.
