Help Jyelah & future students Represent Illinois in Europe

Greetings from Southern Illinois,
Before you read on about Jyelah, please read this update before decided to donate. Jyelah has reached her goal allowing her to go on this trip of a lifetime. She even has enough for some extras such as the broadway musical night in London, the London Eye, costs of the uniforms and the rehearsal camp that covers housing and food for the 5 day camp. Jyelah and her mom, Jessica are paying the extra forward for fellow, younger students in our program that has the same opportunity in June of 2027. At this point she is paying forward just under $1600 thanks to all the worldwide donations to her trip. Thank you to everyone for your generosity to her future.
My name is Michael Maschmeier, Director of Bands at a rural school in Southern, Illinois. I would like to introduce you to Jyelah Ivie (pictured with me), a clarinet and percussion student of mine. Jyelah is a High School Junior and Drum Major (top student leader) of our Marching Band. She earned this position because of her hard work, musical abilities and respect she gets from her peers within the band.
We is a Title I, rural district in Southern Illinois that has enjoyed a long history of providing excellent education to the students of this primarily farming and coal mining community. Jyelah is in need of sponsorship for an educational trip to Europe with Illinois Ambassadors of Music, which costs just over $8000. This amount covers all of the travel expenses (flights, rains & bussing), housing and usually 2 meals a day. Jyelah has already earned $700 for the deposit, working over the summer. She will also work with our booster organization at ball games that provides concessions, and is in planning phase of a spaghetti dinner, a bake sale and will be doing babysitting to contribute to her own cause. Please consider helping provide this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a hard-working musical student.
Whether you are an individual, service organization or a leader in a large corporation, the important take-away is, any amount helps. $500-$1000 for business or corporation would be incredible. $50-$100 from an individual or family would also be wonderful. We just need to achieve our goal of compiling approximately $8000 to make this trip a reality for her.
Jyelah is the second oldest in a single parent home of six, 3 of which are in, or graduated from, our band program. Her two youngest siblings will hopefully follow in the tradition of musical excellence that began with their oldest brother, who is now in college. Jyelah is a good student and cheerleader at our school and earlier this year, she earned the opportunity to play in Illinois Ambassadors of Music. This is an all-state, honors-type band that includes students from 40+ schools around our state. Students come together in May for rehearsals, then travel in June with musical staff. She will be part of the concert band representing our school, village, state and country while traveling in five European countries helping provide concerts. Of course this opportunity will be educational for her by opening her eyes to a much larger world outside of our little town, however, it will furthermore give her much needed experience in music beyond our little 35-member band. Valuable experience because she plans to pursue music education after graduation.
