Dear friends, family, and kind strangers, we're turning to you in a time of great need. Our beloved Juventino is fighting for his life, and we're asking for your support to help him win this battle.

Hello, my name is Juventino Montoya, also known as Tino. I have a family of 5 (my wife and my 3 grown-up kids). In the spring of 2023, I started having symptoms that I assumed were because of my asthma, but in reality, it was the start of my disease. That disease I now suffer from is ILD, interstitial lung disease (which we found out happens to patients that either worked or grew up in poor breathing conditions like chemicals or dust; it's not genetic, and I've never smoked (smokers typically don't get this disease.)). What happens is your body wants to reject your lungs, and they end up hardening with time. Unfortunately, I only have about 30% of my lung capacity left, which is why I've had my family take me to the Mayo Clinic to see about a lung transplant. I have had to be on oxygen 24/7 since the spring of 2023, and I went from 195 lbs to 130 lbs in about half a year. I’ve been doing everything I can to stay positive and have put a little weight on thanks to the support my friends and family have given me.

We recently received some of the best news I've heard since this all started and after many trips and overnight stays at the Mayo Clinic. I have now been added to the active lung transplant waitlist! With me needing the double lung transplant, this won't be a walk in the park, and the recovery will be around 3 months, staying at the Mayo Clinic.

While my family has been doing everything they can to support me, whether that be traveling, care, medical bills, or just taking time off work to be there for me. It's become overwhelming, which is why I'm asking for your support, and it would mean the world to my family if you could send your love, prayers, and thoughts to be with us.

Queridos amigos, familia y amables desconocidos, nos dirigimos a ustedes en un momento de gran necesidad. Nuestro querido Juventino está luchando por su vida, y estamos pidiendo su apoyo para ayudarlo a ganar esta batalla.

Hola, mi nombre es Juventino Montoya, también conocido como Tino. Tengo una familia de 5 (mi esposa y mis 3 hijos adultos). En la primavera de 2023, comencé a tener síntomas que asumí eran por mi asma, pero en realidad, era el comienzo de mi enfermedad. La enfermedad que ahora sufro es EPI, enfermedad pulmonar intersticial (que descubrimos que les ocurre a pacientes que trabajaron o crecieron en condiciones de respiración deficientes como productos químicos o polvo; no es genética, y nunca he fumado (los fumadores típicamente no contraen esta enfermedad)). Lo que pasa es que tu cuerpo quiere rechazar tus pulmones, y con el tiempo terminan endureciéndose. Desafortunadamente, solo me queda alrededor del 30% de mi capacidad pulmonar, por lo que he hecho que mi familia me lleve a la Clínica Mayo para ver sobre un trasplante de pulmón.
