Hi, my name is Seraphine Kabogora, and I’m raising funds for my cousin, Justine Vyukandusenge.
On December 19, 2024, my cousin, Justine Vyukandusenge, was involved in a tragic motorcycle accident while with her mother and siblings. Both Justine and her mother, Goreth Kantungeko , were urgently transferred to the nearest hospital, but due to a lack of medical equipment, they had to be moved to CMCK Hospital in Kinindo, the only facility capable of providing the necessary care.
After extensive testing, doctors found that Justine had suffered a severe fracture in her right thigh , requiring emergency surgery to help her walk again. Thankfully, her mother recovered a few weeks later. Thanks to generous anonymous donors, part of the fees were covered, and Justine underwent surgery on December 31st, during which metal was placed in her thigh in hopes of restoring her mobility.
Goreth, a widowed mother of five children, lost her husband in 2023 due to an undiagnosed medical condition. Since then, she has been the family's sole provider, relying on subsistence farming for survival . With no other source of income, the hospital bill has reached 10,000,000 Burundian francs (approximately $3,500–$4,000, depending on exchange rates).
Why We Need Your Help
Justine has made remarkable progress—she can now take a few steps with a walker and has been medically cleared to continue physical therapy at home. However, she cannot be discharged because the remaining hospital fees have not been paid.
So far, we have raised $700 of the $4,000 needed , but as Justine remains in the hospital, the bills continue to add up.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will bring Justine one step closer to returning home and fully recovering. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser will also help tremendously.
We deeply appreciate your kindness and generosity. Thank you for being part of Justine’s journey to walk again.
