ALS is a fatal disease that slowly takes away the ability to eat, speak, walk, and ultimately breathe—while the mind remains fully intact. There is no cure for this cruel disease and no effective treatments.

What is ALS?

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative condition that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. As the disease advances, it strips away basic bodily functions while leaving mental awareness untouched. The journey is heartbreaking, and the demands—physical, emotional, and financial—are overwhelming.

As Justina’s condition progresses, daily life requires constant care, specialized medical equipment, home modifications, and round-the-clock support. Amidst it all, her greatest wish is to ensure a stable, loving future for Amelia and Elliott.
