Hello, we are Will and Becky, we are close friends with Justin and his beautiful wife Trisha. We met these two almost a year ago and became fast, close friends, even family. This past Sunday we went on a group motorcycle ride out to Stonehenge, located in the Columbia Gorge in Washington... sadly we never made it. About 6 miles before our destination Justin's bike entered a death wabble, that he was unable to recover. He was high-sided and thrown into a bolder along the shoulder of the highway. We, along with the investigators, believe that this may have been contributed to a mechanical issue with the motorcycle. Justin was traveling at a normal rate of speed and in a straight line.
We all thought we had lost our friend, thank goodness he's a FIGHTER! He was breathing! His wife, Trisha, a ER nurse was by his side within seconds. He was clearly in pain and an ambulance was on the way. Ultimately Life Flight had to be launched. He was in critical condition. HUGE thanks go out to the EMT crews and police that were on the scene within minutes. They were amazing to work with. They got Justin stabilized and he, and his wife Trish were outbound to the closest hospital that could handle a level 2 trauma. Which ended up being Kadlec in Richland, Washington.
Justin is in ICU, his injuries are extensive and will require multiple surgeries (he's had 3 already), along with a long, hard recovery. Justin had to have a Craniotomy shortly after his arrival to Kadlec to relieve pressure to his brain. His left side received multiple fractures, including a compound fracture to his arm, broken ribs, a broken femur and him Ultimately loosing two toes due to his shoe ripping off in the crash.
A little history on Justin, written by his wife Trisha: Justin spent six years in the Navy as a jet engine mechanic. He was stationed in El Centro and did a 6-month West Pac tour, including Guam, Malaysia and Dubai. We have 5 children together, ranging in age from 23 to 16. The oldest we adopted, after she came to stay with us when she was in High School, she was dating my son, they are getting married in April. The youngest is living in California with her mom. Justin spent most of his life in Arizona, but fell in love with Oregon when I took him to visit our friend in Medford. He was so convinced he LOVED Portland, that we bought a house together his first trip out. He loves good beer, good food, music, art, anything funny and dad jokes. There is no adventure I have suggested to him that he has shied away from, from his first time backpacking, surfing, to going to the Portland Opera. He loves his family and friends fiercely and is loyal to a fault.
We all know that insurance will not cover everything. We would like to help ease the financial burden that has been placed on our dear friends. Please donate if you can, if anything, please share with your friends and family so we can get them the support they need.
