Hey, if you’re seeing this, you probably know me. For those that don’t, my name is Justin. I am a United States Air Force veteran living in Germany. My reason for living in Europe is to keep and maintain 50% custody of my son.

I was recently fired by the Air Force for alleged claims of un-American views and inciting political violence in the wake of the guy who was recently shot on TV. I never made any claims, nor would I. I have strong views about the rise of authoritarianism and intolerance of people's differences, especially when it comes to inequality and violations of human rights. Anyone who knows me knows this well. I don’t condone violence; rather, I’d support accountability in the legal justice system. However, the truth is that this administration isn’t really concerned about violence but rather silencing dissent to their breakdown of democracy. My outspoken nature has made me a target and now a victim of this current government.

I’m humbly and reluctantly coming for the second time to this crowdsourcing app to help me get through the process of gaining my residency in Germany. I’ve already started the process and have help from an immigration lawyer. I’ve exhausted my savings, and I have no income at the moment. I also fear for my safety and freedom if I attempt to come back home. My biggest priority is not having any lapse in the care I can provide my son. Second to that is securing my ability to stay here and raise him. I’m once again asking for charity and kindness as hard as it is to do. I have no other options. My family has been instrumental in keeping me afloat thus far, but even their resources have limits, as I know we all do. One dollar is huge to me. If 100 people send one dollar, I can buy groceries. I’m literally just trying to buy time until the residency process is complete and I can apply for work here in Germany legally. Please, I’m asking for your support during this time.
