Hi everyone, my name is Amanda, I am Justin's sister. Our family is not one to ask for help, but Justin has found himself dealing with a horrific life changing event in which he could use some uplifting support from those around him. On October 2nd Justin went to the chiropractor for an adjustment for some upper back pain, after his adjustment he came home and was experiencing spasms in his upper back/neck where he was adjusted. Justin went in to the chiropractor again that day, and after the second adjustment he tried to stand up from the adjustment table and lost all sensation in his legs. Justin was then brought to the hospital via EMS that day. He soon found out that he has a spinal cord injury. Justin underwent a ACDF surgery to remove the shattered cervical disc. After further testing it is found that Justin has a complete spinal injury. Justin has underwent so many hospital transfers since this all started and is currently at his 4th hospital since the injury. We are so thankful he has started intensive rehab therapy. Justin has many obstacles ahead of him, but he is ready and willing to face the challenges ahead with help and support from his friends and family. After rehab Justin will be transferred to a skilled nursing facility until we can find the best long term option going forward. Despite everything that has happened this last month and a half Justin continues to bring such a light to this world and leaves such a positive impact on everyone he meets. His smile and sense of humor make all his care team love him. My favorite thing recently is how Justin sings as he is being lifted to and from the hospital bed to his power wheelchair. If you know Justin he is an incredibly gifted singer! We are thankful that if out of everything he has endured we will still be able to be serenaded by his songs!
