My best friend of 35 years, Justin Mills, is facing the most difficult battle of his life. Justin has been diagnosed with terminal colon cancer, and the cancer has metastasized to his liver, lungs, and the peritoneal lining of his abdomen. Doctors have given him just 2-3 years to live with ongoing treatment, and his condition is critical. He is struggling to breathe, has had 7 liters of fluid drained from his lungs, is experiencing blood clots, and is actively bleeding rectally. Despite all of this, Justin remains a devoted father to his 15-year-old twin boys, David and Daniel, who are deeply connected to my own children. Over the years, we have shared countless holidays, milestones, and memories, and Justin has always been someone I could rely on for anything.

Justin and my father were extremely close, and when my father died of cancer in July 2024, Justin was there for my family through the most difficult time in our lives. Now, as Justin faces his own terminal diagnosis, I am doing everything I can to support him. Unfortunately, Kaiser has dropped the ball with his care—they have said the cancer is too far progressed for any surgical intervention and are not doing anything to try to save his life, only to prolong it. One doctor even stated that 50 to 60% of patients discontinue treatment because the treatment is worse than the cancer itself. Justin desperately needs a second opinion and a chance at better care at City of Hope Cancer Hospital, but Kaiser will not provide an outside referral.

The funds raised will help cover medical bills, living expenses, and allow Justin to pursue a second opinion and treatment at City of Hope while he is too sick to work.
