Help Justin James See NYC Before Transplants
Donation protected
My name is James Lowry, a proud former US Marine veteran, married to the love of my life, Elizabeth, for 42 years. We have three children and four grandchildren.
Our son, Justin James, had his left kidney removed at three years old at the University of Michigan hospital in 1990.
In 2015, his nephrologist said he needed to start dialysis. Justin has been going to Davita of Carrollwood dialysis center now for 14 years, approximately 4 years longer than the life expectancy of a normal dialysis patient.
Justin has been on the waiting list for a kidney transplant for 3 years now.
When he finally got ready for the transplant protocol, he needed to be checked out by a cardiologist for approval.
The results showed he needed 3 heart valves replaced or repaired at Tampa General Hospital. He was then referred to the director of heart transplants at TGH, Dr. Mackie, who said if he went in to start repairing or replacing the heart valves, because of the years of dialysis and the calcium build-up on Justin’s heart, that the heart could just fall apart.
Now our son needs a heart and a kidney transplant ASAP.
The doctor said his health will continue to worsen until requiring hospitalization for, God willing, the two transplants, or his death.
Justin has always wanted to see the lights in New York City, so my wife and I are trying everything to get Justin to New York before his health worsens and he is hospitalized, which will be then too late.
If you can possibly help us to fulfill his dream, you will make him so very happy and his pain more tolerable.
May God bless you.
