Help Justin & his Family fight Cancer

Donation protected
Justin Landers is the kindest, sweetest, unassuming young man! Married to his best friend Grezy, and Father to their son, six year old Jameson and 19 year old Kyra - he is always smiling, supportive and helping anyone in need.

As Justin & Grezy's next door neighbour, I have personally benefited from their love and assistance during some of the worst days of my life. Now, with a very scary Cancer diagnosis, Justin is in the middle of a daunting battle and I'm asking for your support in raising funds for their family.

Three months ago, Justin & Grezy's lives were upended.
As a matter of course, Justin was referred to the hospital for IV antibiotic treatment for an open lesion on his heel that just didn't seem to be healing. Hospital staff thought that there was "more" to the lesion and ran some tests. Just a few days and many tests later - Justin and Grezy were sitting in an office at the Juravinski Cancer Centre being told that Justin has a serious form of Melanoma and that it has affected several places. To (hopefully) ward off life altering surgery, a treatment plan was developed and presented with radical Immunotherapy treatment beginning the very next day! Justin and Grezy are a great team and although scared and reeling in shock, they headed off on this journey together with positivity and resolve.

Justin's first two immunotherapy treatments were textbook and although he felt very fatigued and generally unwell, he coped. Unfortunately, the most recent treatment two weeks ago has been fraught with problems - Justin had a reaction to the treatment at the time and has been in and out of the ER and Doctor's office with severe pain and side effects that have been getting worse, culminating with him being rushed to the hospital by ambulance this weekend. He is expected to remain there for for as long as a week while they try to get his condition under control.

Throughout all of this Grezy has been SuperWoman!
She is such a kind and generous soul - always going the extra mile and loving to celebrate others in any way possible. Grezy works full time, has an active six year old, a daughter in college and three lovable dogs. While navigating and ensuring attendance at school, basketball, swimming lessons, violin lessons, drop offs to work, doggie cuddles and care as well as groceries and all of those "other" things that we all have to do in running our households; Grezy has been running every which way to try to make sure that life is "still normal" for her family. The stress and worry of this weekend may have been her breaking point. Over the last few months, While also trying to focus on her job and work full time, Grezy has exhausted her personal sick leave and vacation days while accompanying Justin to his many appointments and treatments. With his day to day condition worsening, she is now faced with the consideration of taking an unpaid leave of absence from her job as they knuckle down to face all that is happening together while still providing a sense of normalcy and security for their family.

I am pulling together this Fundraising Campaign in the hopes of helping to make this next stage of Justin & Grezy's Journey one without worry. They need to be able to focus on each other and next treatment steps. Justin has been on sick leave from work for the last few months. With Grezy's unpaid leave looming, worry about "how" to make it all work is affecting their decisions. This Fundraising Campaign is my way of helping them to feel safe so they can focus on what they need to do. The course of Immunotherapy is a positive but difficult treatment and the family remains full of hope for the future.

PLEASE HELP this young couple arm themselves for the fight!
Funds raised will be used for personal needs - gas, parking, groceries, bills etc. so that they can concentrate on what is important.

ANY donated amount will help.
Please share this campaign with friends, family and colleagues if you are able to. Your messages of support are also appreciated - I know from personal experience that it is difficult to go through this kind of fight - knowing that others are in your corner really does help.
