Hi, my name is Justice. I’m a Minneapolis resident who was unexpectedly laid off from my full-time job and am now facing housing instability as a result. Despite actively applying and interviewing, I have not yet been able to secure steady employment, and my savings have been exhausted keeping up with rent and basic needs.
Recently, I received a 30-day notice to pay my rent or face eviction. Losing housing right now would mean having to relocate in below-freezing conditions, which makes this situation especially urgent.
I’ve used most of my savings to stay current on rent and basic expenses while searching for work, and I’m now at a point where I can’t cover the remaining months of my lease on my own.
My lease runs through June. I’m raising $7,000 to help:
- Cover the remaining rent on my apartment
- Avoid eviction and the long-term consequences that come with it
- Give me time to secure employment and stabilize financially
- Stay housed while continuing to interview and apply for work
I have been doing everything I can to be responsible and proactive: applying for jobs, seeking legal guidance, and exploring assistance programs. Unfortunately, many housing assistance programs only step in once a court case is already filed, which puts people in a painful gap between “trying to prevent a crisis” and “already being in one.”
This fundraiser is to help bridge that gap.
Any amount helps, and sharing this means just as much. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping me stay housed while I work toward the next chapter of my life.
